Bunbury, a delightful beach town about two hours from Perth, is a great place to visit. Bunbury’s attraction stems from its combination of sheltered beaches, hidden backstreets, charming boutiques, and cosy cafes. Our favourite attractions in Bunbury are listed below.
1. Explore the City—Street Art
Bunbury is sometimes called the coastal city of creativity. And it is home to an extensive collection of street art. You can pick up Six Two Three Zero’s ReDiscover and Out of the Box Street Art Map and hit the roads.
2. Get to know wild dolphins
Wild bottlenose dolphins thrive in the waters of Koombana Bay all year long. You can start your day with a swim with dolphins from November to April. And the Dolphin Discovery Center is where you’ll find dolphins all day long, amongst other activities for the family.
3. Go to the Bunbury Wildlife Park
You can also spend time at the Bunbury Wildlife Park to discover native Australian creatures. You can get up close and personal with kangaroos and birds. And even go for a picnic at the park. The park is open from Wednesday to Sunday in the summer, from 10 a.m. to 2.30pm. And, in winter, they let humans in from Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
4. Spend the day at Koombana Bay Beach
The tranquil Koombana Bay is perfect for a lazy, hazy summer day of fun. There is a wide sandy beach to take strolls on and enjoy views of boats sailing in the sea. And you can swim in the calm waters. You might even stumble upon a bottlenose dolphin. Beach volleyball is a famous sport at this beach.
5. Explore the Leschenault Inlet
This breath-taking finger-shaped estuarine lagoon is scattered with dunes. The lagoon is blue-hued. And there is a tuart and peppermint woodland beyond the foreshore dunes. You can spot ringtail and brushtail possums in the area. In spring, dainty wildflowers beckon visitors to linger awhile and watch the kitesurfing contests.
